My life of addiction had spiraled so far out of control, that I could barely make it through a day. I wanted to stop, but the thought of withdrawal scared me to death. A life without my “good friend” felt so far out of my reach…….. A sober lifestyle did not seem to be an option for me.
An intervention saved my life. My family contacted A.I.S.D., who guided and supported them step by step, through a pretty overwhelming time.
Things are going well for me now. I’ve been given some great guidance by the A.I.S.D team, and they’ve helped me to see that my life is my responsibility, and that I have choice and power.
Trying to get into a treatment center in this province is sure a tough process! It’s confusing and intimidating. A.I.S.D. Helped me to get organized. They provided me with a timely assessment and the information I needed to make an informed decision to select a suitable treatment center for myself. One that would meet MY needs. When you’re feeling overwhelmed and not sure where to begin, I would highly recommend A.I.S.D.
I’d lost my car, my home,my children and my dignity. You never think that these things are ever going to happen to you. It seems, you wake up one day, and everything is a huge mess!!! A.I.S.D. And my family changed all that for me. They gave me support, clarity and most of all, hope!
My path was not an easy one, but today I live a life of healthy choice. It’s almost 2 years since my first contact with A.I.S.D. I now own a van, pay the rent at my townhouse, and most importantly, I have my kids back! I’m being the best Mom that I can be, and building a great life for my children and myself.
I have to say,……. Before my first contact with A.I.S.D., I was spiritually dead. Fortunately I had not yet turned to alcohol or drugs to numb my emotional pain, but all of my relationships, it seemed, were strained and unhealthy.
Oh, I appeared to have it all. Great home, fancy car, career and cash. I kept hearing how lucky I was and how happy I should be. Truth of the matter was, I felt empty and miserable.
My Life Coach at A.I.S.D. Helped me by opening my heart to gratitude, acceptance, forgiveness, love and true joy! What an amazing experience it was to begin this journey of “connection”, ……… of figuring out “who I am” and “what I believe in”.
I’ve since eliminated all the toxicity from my relationships and my life in general. What a gift!
It’s tough being a “guy” in a world where men with emotions are viewed as “weak” and “sappy” I had so many conflicting emotions and messages floating around in my head. I felt like I was about to explode! And I “did” anger so well. But it wasn’t working for me any more.
You can talk to your buddies about hockey, or fishing, but never about anxiety or “feelings”. That’s a tough place to be.
I needed a safe place to talk about my issues…...confidentiality was a must. My
Life Coach helped me redefine my definition of “strength”. My communication style has evolved, and my relationships are much healthier……..even with my buddies.
Life is good!
Our relationship was on the brink of disaster. What we once nurtured and protected, …… we were about to walk away from. Life happens. Times get tough. Pressures pile up. It can be exhausting! It can take such a toll on a relationship.
As a “last hurrah”, we thought we’d give A.I.S.D. a try. Through counseling they helped us to clearly see, that we were truly committed to each other , our relationship, and our family. A lot of hard work, and faith in ourselves proved to be a wonderful thing for us! We are showing our children what a healthy relationship looks like. We have found a mature love for each other and great respect for our new relationship. |
